Last night at midnight, Alexander Wang announced his upcoming collaboration with H&M via Instagram video. The video was posted promptly before the #ALEXANDERWANGxHM Coachella after party, which was in celebration of the announcement. Being a Coachella party, the celebration included live performances by Jesse Marco, Iggy Azalea, Major Lazer, and Just Blaze.
The announcement marks H&M’s next collaboration since their Isabel Marant collection. This is H&M’s tenth design collaboration and their first with an American designer. The AlexanderWangxHM men and women clothing & accessories collection will be available in stores and online, November 6, 2014.
H&M creative director, Margareta van den Bosch commented, “Alexander Wang is one of the most important voices in fashion today. He understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that’s infectious. It feels incredible to be collaborating with him this year.”
Likewise, Wang is excited for the collaboration as noted in his statement, “I am honored to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with the team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to pushing boundaries and to setting a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.”
It seems like this collaboration will be a major highlight for H&M and Wang for 2014 and the announcement has definitely blown up the fashion world and social media. I’m excited to preview the collection and hopefully, I’ll be able to get my hands on some of the items from the collection come November!
