Just days after its 17th birthday, Colette, one of the most beloved fashion concept stores in Paris, was robbed. Two armed men wearing masks made there way into the rue Saint Honoré store wielding a pump gun and an axe. They forced six employees to the ground and stormed out with nearly 600,000 euros worth of merchandise, most of which were luxury watches.
The heist took place shortly after the store opened at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. A slew of jewelry robberies have occurred this year in Paris, very similar to this. Two jewelry stores were robbed in March alone.
Fortunately, no one was hurt during the attack. On social media, many Colette fans and fashion industry friends have been expressing their love and support for the store and it’s owner, Sarah Andelman.
Colette is known for it’s trendy fashion and celebrity collaborations. It sells designer clothing from Givenchy to Alaia, jewelry, music, accessories and almost anything else you can think of, most of which tend to be exclusive to Colette with price tags to match.
According to AFP, although the store sells such expensive goods the security is not comparable to other high-end stores in the area. I’m sure after Saturday’s events that will not be the case anymore.
The store has remained optimistic and will bounce back quickly, continuing to keep fans and shoppers brimming with excitement about their future collaborations.
